been out of the game for a while, quick suggestions needed

want loud, but smooth bass. listen to everything from country to rap. in a 99 prelude. i have a 1.25 cu ft sealed box and 1.50 cu ft ported box both to jl specs for the 12w6v2. looking at either the $125 DCON or if it's worth the extra $60 to just go ahead and revamp the w6v2.

JL wants $185 for a recone/replacement of all moving parts. any other suggestions? i checked out the SSA DCON. how would that compare given the same ~400 watts

well i have an old alpine m450 (400 watts at 2 ohm) pushing a 12w6v2 but it suddenly blew (or at least the foam surround is completely not connected to the actual speaker part, if that makes any sense). i've had it for almost 4 years and quite frankly im not even mad seeing as how i bought the...

alright soo after setting the gains to 50 max volume out of 62, i just burned a new mp3cd and skipped around a few heavy hitting songs at 45 volume and it sounded real real good, and the highs didnt cut off. so im crossing my fingers now. i wanna figure this out though, maybe it had something to...

i dont see any other light besides the power-on blue light. im using TMA rca's for the sub amp, and Scocshe or whatever that crap is for the highs amp, which worked fine on the sub amp i had for the past year until it got stolen. i have a spare set of jl audio rca's if you think thats worth a try.

oh and as im staring at the f240 when the highs cut out it has no change in light, as in its powered on light stays blue as usual, no other lights are visible

i like where they're both at, its just a matter of finding out why the highs cut out on some songs at high volumes. is there an exact way to find out with a cheap dmm if that is indeed the case? i dont wanna pull apart the door panels unless absolutely necessary

also i was watching the sub as it played songs like "Put On" and for some of the offbeats (in between the big hits) it fluctuates/moves a lot of air, but doesnt make a lot of sound. is this normal

i bought it used from a guy off craigslist, he said he used it for 5 months. came with the box he made for it to "jl specs" and some wiring which i have no use for. i just retuned it by ear for the highs/mids to 50/62 and by dmm for the sub to 50/62. sounds much better in terms of sub output...

i used a 50hz 0db test tone as its the only one i could find. i originally had the gains at 1/2 just basically by ear but this was done using the cheapo dmm. it sucks cus i want to turn it up so i can hear the sub and then wham my highs cut off. tough situation lol. and yes volume goes up to 62...

ya here is the setup: HU: pioneer 4800mp fronts: infinity ref 6010cs front amp: alpine f240 (bridged) sub: jl 12w6v2 sub amp: alpine m450 i just reset the gains so the infinitys see 90x2 (18.9 volts) which is their rms, and the 12w6v2 sees the full "400" from the m450 at 28.28 volts. the...

ok so ive been having problems with my infinity 6010cs components hooked up to an alpine f240. everything is smooth at about 75% volume (gains set at 61/62 volume on my pioneer using dmm), but sometimes after i crank it, it almost acts like a buffer system and the infinitys stop playing while my...

weird cut off problem, pls help

alright, i have everything installed now and it sounds sweet (minus the fact im unsure what to do about setting the gains on the w6 because i havent been able to hear any clipping when i tried adjusting them by ear). i backtracked the wiring to the R door and the insulation was a little clipped...

weird cut off problem, pls help

well i think that solves it! i tried the L and R speakers independently and the L one allowed me to go up to full volume, but when i only connected the R one it cut out at 3/4 so i guess im gonna backtrack that R side wiring and look for the short, and hopefully that does it. thanks for your...
