I thought the damping (sp) factor was the ability of an amp to control a load. If you run a 250W amp with a damping factor of 100 to 250W, and a 1000W amp with the same damping factor to 250W, the distortion is the same, since the damping is the same. Am I wrong?

I gots me a F350, and I plan on putting two layers of deadener from the firewall back. It should knock down most of the noise. There is also some talk of wrapping the turbo and exhaust with a ceramic blanket to keep the heat inside. That will cut down some noise too.

Stock Ford speakers are higher impedance than your usual 4 ohm. Makes for a tough time powering them. You may wanna try making the truck quieter too. Some Dynamat really helped keep the turbo whistle down in my 04.

I understand that the ones you buy ****, and I avoid them too. But is there something inherently wrong with the tube design, or is it just crappy parts? If I took a RLP, and put it in a correctly sized tube, would it sound any different than the same size box? And if so why?
