Recommendations for SQ Front Stage Components?

I run Hertz HSK 165's and an Audison LRX 2.4 just running passive and it sounds amazing. You can find deals also, I bought the hertz barely used by a good friend for $200 and the amp I bought brand new for $300 cause the new lineup was coming out. I listen to all kinds of music and this combo...

Are these micro amps worth it?

I installed the alpine mini amp in my daughters car with new alpine type S 6.5's in front and 6x9's in rear. Def gave a boost in sound/power and you can tell it's not just running off of HU power. Don't expect miracles though, I would only use them if you are OK with with running things off of...

    trunk still rattles

Mine only comes from the latch. All the deadener in the world isn't going to help a rattle at the connection between the trunk lid and body.

I think the DSP on my HU just went

The face was my first thought as well and but that didn't solve it. I went ahead and reset the HU and now everything works. Kinda weird, the only recent changes I made was to set my rear deck speakers to x-over @ 80hz instead of 60hz and I now run an HTC ONE through the Bluetooth instead of an...

I think the DSP on my HU just went

It's an Excelon 996, my setup has worked flawlessly since the install 9 months ago Turned on the car, popped on the face and no music will output. It doesn't matter what the source(USB, radio, cd) is and I run 3 different amps if you include the HU amp and none are outputting any sound. For...

    Sub starting to smell

Wow the "use a DMM" guys dropped off fast. Anyone else have experience with using a DMM for the fronts like my previous post implies?

    Sub starting to smell

I set my gains on my sub amp using the DMM. On the x996 I'm setting a max volume of 25/35. I did 500x2 which was 1000 and the square root of that is 31 so I set gains to output 30.5 when playing a 50hz test tone at volume 25. What I don't understand how to set is the gain on my fronts using...

    Sub starting to smell

Factory JL ported box is 32hz for tuning but without that backwall in my box I don't know exactly what it expects or even if that would change the default HZ of 32. As far as cross over points, my sub channel on kenwood x996 is set to through and the LPF on amp is set to 75hz. Subsonic is at 25hz.

    Sub starting to smell

Thank you everyone for responding. To answer the question about the box it's a JL factory spec ported box but without the 90 degree bend backwall you'd find on the exact spec sheet. Where do I set my subsonic filter at to achieve the 32-36? Right now I believe it's set to 25.

    Sub starting to smell

I will start looking into that.

    Sub starting to smell

If the amp gains set to 1/4 to 1/3 and headunit set to no more then 70-75% then there would be hardly any bass coming from the sub, something doesn't add up here. If this is true then I guess I bought the wrong sub to get any kind of bass out of? I didn't realize I had to buy a higher end sub...

    Sub starting to smell

No kidding? Man I need to rethink all of this. I thought I needed to be at around 80-85% of the max volume # on HU to avoid that? I wonder if I'm getting used to the sub and I'm pushing it too much not realizing it. I guess I need to get more scientific about this and use some tools to get...

    Sub starting to smell

Wouldn't the gains be too high if I was running the volume to max of 35? Never over 30 though.

    Sub starting to smell

Sorry forgot that info, it's a W3 2ohm so the amp is running at 2ohms.

    Sub starting to smell

My W3 12" for the last few days has started making a horrible smell when pushed. I'd had the sub for a few months now and this just started. Running 4v out from the kenwood HU, gains on MRX-M50 amp are around 55-60% mark, max volume on HU is 35 but I never go over 30. Birth sheet on the amp...
