Alright so I have a Insignia NS-C4113 head unit. The other day out of no where it started smoking and bad. So I took it apart to find out where. It seems to be where the heat sink on the back connects to the main broad. I have posted some pics. I took the CD drive out and tried hooking it back...

try running the ground off the batt ground. Thats what I had to do.
