Don't want to enclose the sub

I quick google netted many hits for the Rockford Fosgate M110S4 10" Infinite Baffle Marine Grade Subwoofer Also MTX seems to have a large selection of these in a marine model at reasonable prices; are these inferior? Again I'm looking for modest components, on a boat you're happy to just hear...

Don't want to enclose the sub

Thank you all, yes, infinite baffle is exactly what I am looking for. I googled it and learned all I need, I found this link very helpful: IB subwoofer FAQ page And it will be installed on a vertical surface with sufficient separation as described in the link I provided. Now if I can find one...

Don't want to enclose the sub

Is there a specific type of sub I should look for if I do not plan to enclose it? I thought I saw one that was specifically for nonenclosed applications but I have been doing so much research and looking I've lost the link. Before you ask why, this is going in a 31' sunbridge cruiser and where...

    Are watts cumulative?

Thanks for the previous responses, I understand. The indicator light seems like a cool function. Any comments on my second query: "So now I understand about under powering, but what about overpowering your speakers. Is it as simple as don't turn the volume past the capacity of the speakers...

I spent most of last night reading through it, much to my wife's chagrin. Parts I had to read a couple time but I feel I have a firm grasp on...

    Are watts cumulative?

Oh, and I surmised that strapping means something like daisy-chaining the amps, yes?

    Are watts cumulative?

Hey, while you're all being so helpful perhaps another trip to the well. I have been doing a lot of reading so that I make somewhat informed decision and I'm afraid it usually raises more questions with me than answers; sigh. Anyway, one thing I am trying to make sure is that I match the...

    Are watts cumulative?

So if your plan is to incorporate an amp into your system and that is what will determine the output to the speakers does that make the head unit's output less of a consideration or is there still benefit in a higher watt rating feeding your amp? It would seem to me pay the extra on the amps'...

    Are watts cumulative?

Hi, I am putting together a modest system for my boat; I am new to car audio so please bear with me. I hope this is a simple question. Say for instance your head unit puts out 25w X 4 RMS and your amp puts out 75w X 4 RMS am I getting more like 100w X 4 RMS to the speakers? Thanks
