I would stay away from the db series. I bought a pair of these last christmas and they blew out about 6 months later. There is horrible distortion when lower bass tones are played. Beware, I would spend your money on something better, I've lost all faith in Polk.

on the wiring option 2, it shows to connect the positive and negative terminals together on the subwoofer, is this necessary?

I have 2 12 inch subwoofers in a ported box in the trunk of my 1996 oldsmobile ciera. Being an older car, there is alot of rattling in and around the trunk when the subwoofers are played. There seems to be alot of rattling in the tail light area and license plate. It sounds absolutely terrible...
