If you want to try and keep that box why don't you drill new holes for the screws that didn't line up? Or drill all new holes so the sub is centered over the hole if it's not right now.

So the colored stains wouldn't be a problem for the speaker? I know nothing about stains so forgive my ignorance! I picked up some 11-ply birch earlier, gonna get the box started and figure the finish out from there.

Yeah you could go 225/40, you would have just a little less sidewall protecting the wheels but still alot more than many of us are driving on. If they'd fit your needs I'd go for it.

Yup, I have an 18" from '03 with the flat back plate, slightly different than your old '05 12" that I've got sitting here right now as well. Finally picked up the wood for the box earlier tonight.

Right! There's no way I'd be doing the plexi if I was paying for it, it was a scrap from a construction job he had sitting in the garage so I couldn't say no. I'll have check into the stain a little more, someone had used a shade of Minwax polyshade with a couple coats of polyurethane and...

For sure, I'd give it some time to cure before installing. I've got a picture in my head of the inside of the box and trim pieces around the amps stained to match the factory wood that would look good. I've never had to make the inside of a box look good so I'm not 100% sure I can pull it off...

I'm planning on using plexi so the inside will be visible. A buddy gave me a 2'x4' piece of 1" acrylic so I gotta try to use it! Was thinking about painting but figure if I could stain a decent color match to the factory woodgrain inside the car it'd be a little more unique.

I'm considering staining the inside of a sealed box; is the stain safe for the surround and cone of the sub? The sub is an '05 XXX, appears to be rubber surround paper cone.

Wow, that's a flashback, that 7930 looks exactly like my first HU back in '98. If it wasn't that exact model, it looked the same.

I'd use 3 runs of 8 gauge from the distribution block, should be plenty big unless it's a long run, that's what I've used on my old school 400x. You should be able to search US Amps site or google it to find the recommended fuse size for the older amps. Nice amp BTW!
