    Question about my setup

OK...well, I got an amp installed at Best buy back in '07, so that's how old the wiring is. It's all professionally done, and the ground is indeed secured to a sanded bare metal part of my frame, approximately 2 1/2 feet from my amp. I have the LPF, Bass, and Gain at about roughly 15 percent...

    Question about my setup

It's only running 300W @ 4 ohms, and yet if I take the cap off the headlights dim considerably. It's an old battery I don't feel like replacing, this amp chews em up over the course of years, as I'm sure any amp does. When I got this battery brand new, it didn't dim at all, but the repeated...

    Question about my setup

It keeps my headlights from dimming, so I'm good with that. My system still hits hard enough at acceptable thresholds to where it will dim the lights.

Used MR-M500 or refurb Polk PA880

I was pleased with my MRP-M500 for a few years, but recently it's been giving me trouble. $80 sounds like a good deal tho, I'm not sure about the Polk...

    Question about my setup

Well it's been working, I have my thresholds down, meaning I know at which volume/bass level my amp shuts off at. I was wondering tho, I got my cap installed at a professional shop, and they used the same ground my amp uses. Is this a problem? I've heard it stated before elsewhere that you...

    Question about my setup

Yes. And yes. Positive to left, negative to right, connecting the remaining positive and negative terminals together, just as the diagram suggests. I'm thinking bad amp, it IS pretty old. Edit: I was driving my car tonight and it sounded as if it were getting weaker and weaker until I...

    Question about my setup

Well hmm...have it wired the way y'all told me to and it still cuts off. I can't turn the gain or bass up to even 20 percent. It plays just fine but I can't crank it the way I'd like. Any ideas?

    Question about my setup

Hell yea it worked! It actually sounds impressive and I still have everything turned down! Much appreciated! I'm going to dial it in tomorrow, it was dark out already by the time I woke up.

    Question about my setup

Ok, I missed the part about how to achieve this. I don't understand how to get it to 2 ohms. If I wire it to 1 sub, it's 4 ohms. I thought wiring it parallel brought it down to 2 on 2 subs. How do I bring it down on 1 SVC sub? Don't look down upon me just because I don't know. For all I...

    Question about my setup

So, what, I'm screwed? How would I get my amp down to 2 ohms since it's 2 ohm stable? Even if I have to run just 1 sub, it's better than nothing! If my speakers are 2 ohm is it unsafe to run them at 4 ohms? Or even possible? I'll do anything I can!!

    Question about my setup

I tested them with my DMM when I got them, they read 2 ohms. I just need to know how to get there properly!! These subs were my first RF purchase, and most likely my last!

    Question about my setup

Ok, will try this tomorrow, thanks everyone for the advice! Probably the reason my 2 sony xplod 12s blew lol I had them hooked up to this amp in parallel. It worked just fine for about 3 years!

    Question about my setup

My amp is stable at 4 ohms, how do I get it there? According to the box the RMS would be a perfect match for what the RMS is alleged to be from these suspect subs. Edit: Ok, upon further review, I see that to be where I need to be, I need to run positive to the left, negative to the right...

    Question about my setup

The box says 500W X 1 @ 2 ohms, 300 W X 1 @ 4 ohms. From my understanding since I have them wired parallel, it takes the load down to 2 ohms? I bought the speakers because they were advertised as 2 ohms, so I figured if wired parallel they'd be right where they need to be, just overpowered. I...

    Question about my setup

Parallel. positive out to left, spliced over to the right, negative out to right, spliced over to left. Saw this configuration on a website. The box is 1.24 cubic feet per. I mounted them myself, had to solder the wire to the speaker.
