Okay, I soldered wire to the sleeves on the rcas sending signal to the amp, and screwed the other end to a ground point. Seems to have worked. Like I said before, it doesn't seem to constantly crackle; sometimes it does, and then randomly it won't. But now I can't seem to make it crackle...

Okay update: It appears that the crackling only happens when the car is running. If I just run off the battery, it sounds fine. But when I start the car, the popping starts. I also took a friends amp and tried it with my sub, and it did the exact same thing. I am so confused.

Well hey thanks for trying man. I'm just so frustrated. I can't figure it out. I have this nice sub, and when connected, I can't listen to my MP3 player, radio, or CD's without a TERRIBLY annoying crackle. So FRUSTRATING!

Okay, well (a.) there is a money issue, (b.) I'm not displeased with the sound and (c.) I don't want to add more equipment when I have a pretty serious problem. The speakers are not the problem. They sound fine when I disconnect the power to the sub. absolutely fine at all volumes.

I am desperate for some advice here. I have a 2001 Ford escape, with a Pioneer DEH-P4900IB stereo. The Pioneer stereo has been there for exactly 1 year. Last week, I installed one 12" kicker comp. sub with a 200W Alpine amp. Sounds great!....EXCEPT..... there is a crackling sound in the stock...
