Do I need to use a gasket between the terminal and box?

O.K.- I ordered a terminal. Where should it be mounted in the box- directly behind the driver or off to one side? Does it matter? Also, the current dimensions have the depth at 8.54", and the speaker mount depth is 5 1/8"- is this enough clearance between the back wall and the magnet? Thanks...
