Actually.. is it necessary? Right after it happened I took the speaker output out and it still went into protect. And there are 4 legs on the output side, and they are all about .5ohm with eachother.

Guess I should have mentioned that also... The guy I bought it from said the sub is D1, but the guy who installed it said it was D2. So, it was wired to 1ohm assuming it is in fact a D2 sub. and Mike, thank you and I'll report back with the results.

Alright, also what is your opinion on shallow mounts? I understand the volume of the box is the same, but the smaller depth seems better to save some space. On ebay there is a p3 shallow mount in a box for $180, which seems like a good deal. Also, just to clarify I'm looking for 500 watts RMS...

Is $500 not a reasonable price point for the setup I'm looking for? From the store I went to I was told to look for a higher watt single or lower watt double setup, and I decided to go for the higher single to save space. Was I steered in the wrong direction?
