That is not a good ground. The reason is that piece of metal is only attached to the floor by 4 pinch welds.

I have never looked this far into it but is an amp more or less efficient at .5 ohm? Compared to 2 ohm. Is an amp going to have more or less distortion at .5 ohm? Compared to 2 ohm. Has amp one every actually tested this?

so whats better? 1 amp running at .5 ohm, or 2 amps each running at 2 ohm, that was the original posters question. Which way is more efficient?

Take it off the seat bracket, use a flat spot on the floor of the vehicle. scrape the paint off making it shiny then use a few screws to secure it down. That should fix it, a good ground is very important!

Do not go to the strut tower. Take the ground to the floor of you car and use some self tapping screws. Any time you use a factory bolt consider it a bad ground.

What about the EQ and headunit?

make sure nothing is under where the box is, take the sub out, put 4 screws in the bottom of the box into the floor of the trunk, put your sub back in the box!

Check all grounds, make sure well sanded and tight.

Did you try and call MTX to see what they can do?

I had that amp in 1998 in my truck. Great little amp!
