I had 2 SA12s on a DDm80. Swapped out the Dd and I just tossed a cab1600 @ 1ohm and its seriously beating these things up. I am very happy with that $200 out the door spent.

Last 8" was on a DD M80 @ 1 ohm. Already have a mechman on it. So it wasn't a voltage issue. How exactly do you diag the issue anyway, post damage? I don't mind the extra $50 for the x-8. I was poking on here maybe someone had an old recone'd custom 8 that would be fun in the box. So far, no dice.
