I took the carpet out and screwed it down good (but without a gasket) and no change. Then I did the same but with a phone book (which is still inside) and it did not help either....so I dont know?

Good question about the sealing. I think I do have carpet in between and I dont think there is an actual special there (like an )-ring). Maybe some RTV would do the trick? I will check now and see what I can do about it.

The gain was set about 60% of max with 0 bass boost. I dropped it down to about 45% and it just really shifted the popping point to about 75% of max head unit power. But the problem is the bass seems kinda weak now. Hmmm? P.S. I have wimpy wire, 8 gage...would that have any affect on this...

It is very possible the gain is set too high, but as I remember things were set relatively moderately. I will check that first and report back.

The Amp to the sub is a 2x175 bridged and the sub is a 10W6. There are a few ways to crossover the amp, and I tried them out a while back and settled on this one. Could I stuff the box with something?

I have a 2x100 and 1x300 amp with 8 gage wire. I get a popping sound from the bass when it hits hard, almost like it is giving up. The amps are ESX and the sub is a JL10" (forget the model but it was the one able to handle more power since my IDQ's kept crapping out).
