Well, late reply. But the Pioneer amp I had was bad. I got rid of it just yesterday. It was a 2 channel 200 watt (40wx2 @ 4ohms powering all four of my speakers). So yeah, not a whole lot of power. And the sound was aweful at around 500hz-2khz, wasnt coming out as it should. Got an Alpine...

Well the tube only cost me 50 bucks flat. I don't really look for a whole lot of bass, i dont like it overpowering, the speakers on their own deliver enough bass when the lows are cranked up. I do want a better amp though.

Whats wrong with Focal speakers? They sound great to me, a little less bassy than most others I've heard but much clearer in the midrane and high tones (which is how I listen to my music anyway). The Bazooka tube I got for 50 bucks, can't say I got a bad deal. I'm happy with it. As for the...

    Jvc Kd-r900

Got my KD-R900 unit a couple days ago in the mail! Am having it installed tomorrow along with a Pioneer GM-X362 200watt amp, Focal Access 690 CA1 Speakers, 50watt self amplified Bazooka Tube to go along with my already installed front 6.5" Focal 165 CA1 speakers. Sound quality SHOULD be quite...

Three settings? Thats interesting. But how do the high and low settings differ from eachother? Is it power output? Like instead of 50wattsx4, it becomes 25x4 or something? Thats.....a little weird....

AWESOME. Thats perfect. Thank you so much. This pretty much sums up everything I needed to know about the deck. I can't wait for mine to come in, should arrive by Monday, gonna see if I can get it installed the same day. I looked up the info on the first page and you mention the HU's internal...

The current state of Sony headunits?

If youre planning on using a USB drive, be prepared for some really miserable experiences all around. Most units ive test (and all units from sony) organize files and folders by creation date, NOT in alphabetical order. The only units that seem to organize by alphabet are JVCs. Pioneers, some do...

Oh sweet! Thanks! Yeah videos say it best, there really need to be more live videos of head units from users and manufacturers, i know its a pain but it gives a REAL feel for the units out there. I'm new to car audio and i come from a very hardcore portable digital audio player background. I...

Hmm. Man, i'm on the fence, i can either replace my Alpine CDA-117 for a new unit, or go to the JVC KD-R900. But what I really want is the unit to scroll through lists and items THIS fast: Pressing 'next' to go to the next track is almost instantaneous in the video, which is the same for the...

    CDA-117 vs CDA-9887

Heres a video of how poorly the CDA-117 handles usb flash drives and the whole 'banking' issue: THATS how fast it should be. My USB connection failed on me before I could really play with the iPod controls. Can anyone confirm if the CDA-117 is as fast as the CDA-9887??

Hmmm...but dont the up/down arrow buttons switch to the next folder? I have my music organized like this: http://ungraphic.com/stuff/folder_structure.jpg I tested the KD-R810 and pressing the up/down arrow buttons just skipped to the next folder relevant to the folder hierarchy, basically, it...

    CDA-117 vs CDA-9887

I have the CDA-117. The usb port crapped out on me. Any usb drive I connect to it, or even switch to USB mode, it gives me 'Current Error' message. The biggest problem with this unit is not that though, as I'm sure I just got a lemon, its the speed. Its almost as slow as a Sony. Scrolling...

Any details you can give us with USB flash drives? Does the deck detect 16gb flash drives fully loaded with 2,000 or more mp3s? Does it detect it fast? Thanks!

    JVC KD-R810 and KD-R900

I've recently had the chance to test a KD-R810 and it performed exceptionally well with usb flash drives and music loaded in it; -usb flash drive loaded very quickly -folder were displayed alphabetically as were files, NOT sorted by creation date as sonys and others are known to do -scrolling...
