    Sealed or Ported

I'm torn between a 15" sealed subwoofer and a 12" ported subwoofer for my 2021 Explorer ST... I still haul DJ gear around so I need it to be removable and oddly, they will weigh about the same. I think the Dayton HO 15 needs 1.6 cubic feet net and most 12s will need around 1.5 to 1.75 cubic...

12" sealed subwoofers for .85 cubic foot gross before displacement

Crap, I really need D4 for the pair or I'll need another amp...

12" sealed subwoofers for .85 cubic foot gross before displacement

The crazy thing is I modeled the DC Audio LVL 2, Alpine Type S, and Dayton HO12, and they are all stupid close in predictive modeling.

12" sealed subwoofers for .85 cubic foot gross before displacement

I'm getting old and lazy and about to move, so I don't have time to build an enclosure. I'm thinking about getting this enclosure for a 2019 Mustang GT: https://www.zenclosures.com/2015-Mustang-Subwoofer-Box-p/mustang15t3ff.htm As of now, It's looking like the DC Audio 12" LVL2 either M3 or...

Subaru WRX HK+Starlink with aftermarket HU

I wish I could help you but I yanked the Starlink box out when I replaced the HU in my 2019 WRX. It's a shot in the dark, but the cat here may be able to help you: https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/S1.html I can't see how the resistance would have changed if you left the Starlink box and...

    Floating face head units

I ended up going with a Kenwood DDX9907XR because I grew tired of waiting on the floating face head units to appear in stock. Now even the DDX9907XR has dried up or is available at a price that is $500 more than what I paid for mine...

    Floating face head units

Since my BitOne is on the blink, I really want to give that Kenwood a try. It will save me the agony of having to get another DSP too. As for the BitOne... the DRC is dead and it developed a turn on/off pop in cold weather. It was so bad I was worried it would take out a tweeter. EDIT: It...

    Floating face head units

Dang, I'm thinking about sticking with a standard double-din then. I have a Kenwood DNX891HD, and the only thing missing is Android Auto. The Bluetooth on it is light years ahead of the factory Subaru HK system that I currently want to rip out of my 2019 WRX. Kind of sad that a circa 2014...

    Computer building, I am

Sheesh, last July my power supply went out and I spent almost $400 for an EVGA 750 that "should" have been around $150 tops. My only saving grace is that it was for a business computer, otherwise I would have really cried.

    Computer building, I am

When I saw this thread, the first thing I thought was how in the heck are you getting parts? I NEED a new video card and I am SOL for finding a replacement in stock that doesn't cost 3x more than the current RX580 that I am running with defective fans. I would rather NOT get another RX580, but...

    Floating face head units

Has anyone here used something like the Alpine Halo or Kenwood equivalent? I'm mainly looking to see what, if any, cons there are to running one of these floating face head units versus a traditional double din?

    Old School vs. New School

Plus they finally got the transistor switching speed where it is outside the audible spectrum. OTOH, has the electromagnetic interference issue been solved? Granted, I never experienced it, but for those who do, I was told it sucked.

No bass with new Taramps MD.1800

Bummer. Sadly, DOA gear happens every now and again. I swear my FedEx driver drop kicks boxes marked "fragile" just to be a d!ck.

Old School Early 1990's Amp Guy

I have nothing against the ProMos, it's just the Power Class speedbump amps that I didn't like due to an install that I ran them in where they overheated. I blamed the compact design because nothing else ever overheated in that particular location whereas the audio shop blamed the amps being in...

Old School Early 1990's Amp Guy

Sound is relative since we are talking about the absolute worst reproduction environment for audio, i.e. the car itself. These days I go for power in a given footprint and efficiency. With enough power and equalization channels, I can get just about any sound that I want with a MMATS...
