how old are you and your audio obsession???

33 y/o. Started late in life in 2000 when I lived in San Fransisco and realized how good car audio could be. The bottom line is I listen to the majority of my music in the car.

I also have a F-150. As a starting platform for a high quality audio system it is pretty good. Quiet in the cab straight from the factory. The door panels allow for some **** deep woofers. With the addition of MDF spacers, you could probably fit 4" deep woofers. Not kidding! The spacing between...

What do you guys think of MMATS speakers?

Sounds like a pretty bad case of quality control. Nevertheless, they do sound great. I am looking to fabricate some pretty intricate door pod/panels. I wonder if I can get some DIY speakers such as Dayton reference to sound better.... Hmm...... Any other thoughts or expereinces with MMATS speakers?

What do you guys think of MMATS speakers?

This is pretty weird, I must have just been to the same shop in Hawaii. Today I had an opportunity to hear the MMATS C 62 coaxials. They had them for $180 a pair. Now that sound like a pretty expensive pair but I have to say I was extremely impressed with the overall sound quality of the set...

    Do Kickpods really make sense??

For myself I could use the Q-logic kicks with little modification because I was thinking about running 2"domes Dayton RE52 from Partsexpress as my mids. THese are already sealed and do not need an additional enclosure. As for SQ guys mostly going to dash mounted speaker systems, that makes...

    Do Kickpods really make sense??

I am thinking about getting some kick panels for my 04 F150. It would be able to hold a mid dome and tweeter very nicely, all part of a DIY 3 way system I would like to install. What I am really concerned with when it comes to kicks is the fact that half of your body appears to be in the way of...

    Type X Components

I the high end Alpine speakers are rebadged Vifa spakers. There are similar speakers avaliable for much cheaper at partsexpress.com. Fun to make your own components.

    My DIY Component SET!

Good point about the ohms, the Dayton premade crossover is very intersting. The low end speaker is made for 4 ohm and the upper two are made for 8 ohm. The only thing I am kind of concerned about is the rs28 tweeter one other previous writers made a suggestion about. The RMS is 100watts or so...

    My DIY Component SET!

Compared to lets say a pair of EDI 6500, do you think the speaker components I have layed out will sound better with some careful tweaking?

    My DIY Component SET!

I have read the RS28 was a great tweeter. As for the active crossovers, I will look into those. Any sugggestions on companies? I know audiocontrol makes units. As for the passive crossover, what is the reason it would not work well? A RS28 for example should take care of the frequencies above...

Seal up the holes in the doors????

Hey Guys, I have a 2004 F150. I am runnning Alpine R SPR-574A 5x7 both front and rear. Excellent coaxials. The outer skins have a gallon of edead per door but I have not done anything with the inner skins yet. There are huge openings where the plastic was removed. If speakers sound best in...

    How about isobaric mids ?????

I am thinking about doing an intresting component set, ..... I know if you isobarically load two speakers into the same enclosure. From what I understand, when you do this, you effectively double the volume of an enclosure. The midbass response should also be much stronger. I have a 2004 Ford...

dashboard speaker placement? - Horizontal speaker pods?

Oops, my bad. Any other pictures or ideas out there?????

dashboard speaker placement? - Horizontal speaker pods?

That's pretty much what I was thinking! Another idea would be to use 3" woofers(usually8 ohm), get two of them so they can be run at 2 ohms and have them pointing much more at the passengers than the placement I saw in the previous messages links. Any thoughts?????
