    Help me decide PLZ!

Yeah, I have a 95 Maxima and Im running a 15" Rlp in a 2.75 cft, 30hz box. So it can be done, although it is a squeeze. I have to agree, it can be a PITA. You just gotta play around with the dimensions a little. I dont have the exact box dims on hand right now, but I'll take a peek later.

    Ss Rl-p ?

I have a 15 Rl-P in a ported, 2.75cft, tuned to 30hz, getting 1000 watts. It replaced a JL 15W6 in the same box. The Rl-P kills the W6 in SQ and SPL, no comparison. I also had 2 12 JLW6V2's, sealed and ported(3.5cft, 28hz). I would say that the Rl-P is a little bit louder than the 12's...

    My subs pop

Check your ground too, it may be loose.

How do RL-P's compare to W6v2's?

I've also had both setups, 12's. I would also say RL-p's have a slight advantage SPL wise and the W6's have a slight advantage SQ wise. Either way, you will be a happy customer.

    slot vs. aeroports

Does anybody know why JL recommends slot ports for thier subs?

    12" W6v2 *need advice*

Where do you have the gain set? You need to keep the gain low with that amp and sub combo. The 12w6v2 is 4 ohm dvc, so im assuming you have it wired to 2 ohms. Correct me if Im wrong, but I believe that amp puts out close to 1000 watts at 2 ohms, and the sub is rated at 400 watts.

Match Subwoofer size to music genre

Hey guys, I just wanted to get peoples opinion on your favorite music genre and the subwoofer size you prefer for that specific genre. I realize that enclosure type and size have much to do with a sub's performance, but I am just looking for a general opinion. For example, I have run 8, 10...

    2 15's

Well JL specs say 2.25 cu ft for the 15w6, ported. So technically you should be ok. But from my experience, they like 2.75-3.25 cu ft. It gives a flatter response and hits the lows louder. I had mine in a 2.75cu ft, tuned to 30hz and it sounded great.

    12w7 or 2 10w6v2 or 3 10w6v1

I have 2 12w6v2's. I had them sealed, and recently switched to ported. 1.75 cu ft, tuned to 28hz. With sealed, the SQ is phenominal, and the SPL is great but over time, I wanted just a bit more. By going ported I noticed a big increase in SPL with the w6's. There was a noticeable decrease in...

    12w7 or 2 10w6v2 or 3 10w6v1

I would also have to say the 2 10w6v2s....PORTED.

Big differance in dB from 12w3 to 12w6?

From my experience, there isnt much of an SPL difference between the 12w3v2 and 12w6v2, you may actually lose SPL by going to the 12w6v2. But the 12w6v2 will sound so much better SQ wise. If you want an increase in SQ, then get the 12w6v2. If you want an increase in SPL, the PORT THE...

    jl or idq

I actually had a JL 15W6 and switched to a 15 Rl-p. I used the same box, 2.75cft, tuned to 30hz, and it is a big improvement in spl and sq. I love the 15w6, but the rl-p gets much louder and retains great sq at higher volumes. Also, while both get loud off of little power, the rl-p can take...

    Installed my RL-p 15 D2 (RL-p owners step in)

I have my Rl-p 15 d4 in a 2.75cft, tuned to 30hz, getting ~1000 watts. It has penty of output for me. I listem to rap and hip hop and the lows are sickening. I also have 2 JL 12w6v2, sealed to JL specs. And while its not a fair comparison, the rlp-p is alot louder with just a slight drop in SQ.
