    I give up!!!!

It's not easy and you won't make a perfect cut with anything but a table saw or circular saw. Even with a circular saw, don't expect the cuts to be exact. Anything within 1/8 of an inch is not bad. You can always clamp panels together and then sand them down to ensure eveness. Don't worry too...

    Another sealed box ????

If you don't have a brad nailer, I would use clamps. I woudn't recommend using screws with 1/2". But if I had to, I would use a 1" wood screw and as always, pre-drill every hole. If you're going to use 3/4", then I would use at least 1 1/4" wood screws. Always pre-drill your holes and stay far...

    Another sealed box ????

The best way to work with 1/2" MDF is brad nails and wood glue. If you don't have a brad nailer, I wouldn't try to use screws. Using screws pretty much has to be done with 3/4". And never use nails that have to be hammered in. If you use 1/2 MDF, glue with wood glue and secure with brad nails...

    sealed enclosure HELP!!!!!

Ok, before you start removing stuff from your truck, I think the sub will fit. Here's a pic of what you're going to try and build (from your deminsions) I didn't show it in the pic, but from the center of the hole, you shoul have a little over 6" from there to the back wall. Should be more than...

Trying to calculate vent area. Need Help. **Pics**

I understand and appreciate that. I can't go bigger. I've got an 06 Club Cab Dakota. Trying to use the space between the rear seats. It's only 11" wide. If I go more than 16" tall or deep I have problems. So that's it. Again, I'm already using 1/2 birch to scavenge space. Plug the measurements...

Trying to calculate vent area. Need Help. **Pics**

Thanks, so something like 10x2x22? Do I still use the 22" they recommend as length? If so, any idea what that would put this box (1 internal net) tuned to?

My Menards carries 1/2 MDF. Lowes does not. Lowes does have 1/2 birch though.

People are unfreaking believable. I didn't start a thread asking what size to make my enclosure. I don't want opinions on what sounds better...1.5 cubes, 1.7 cubes, or whatever. I said I'm trying to build to spec. 1.3 cubes gross is all I can go. It happens to be to spec. I figure if Alpine says...

Trying to calculate vent area. Need Help. **Pics**

OK, thanks for your opinion. Currently it's in a sealed box (.8 cubes). Sounds very good and is SQ oriented. I had the extra wood so I thought I would try a vented box for comparison. I'm done with everything except the vent area. P.S., I actually did a ported consol install using AA assassins...

    Sealed Enclosure HELP

For small boxes like that, I don't see why you couldn't use 1/2" MDF if you wanted. Single sub set up, with walls no longer than those, once properly built (glued) you shouldn't see anything flex because of the thinner wood. I've built a few boxes out of 1/2" and they've all been solid. I just...

Trying to calculate vent area. Need Help. **Pics**

OK responding to myself here. If the above is correct (Alpine says 11x1x22=242 cu/in) then I could co 10x1x24 and come up with 240 cu/in. Would that be off enough to make a difference? Am I making sense at all???

Before you totally hijack my thread, I can tell you Alpines spec says 1.3 cubes before displacements. They want an internal volume of 1 cube. If you want to know what everyone else recommends, please start your own thread. Thanks.
