    12" Fi Q Questions

Q18s would be louder and lower Watt per Watt.

    SSD and xmax

As mentioned above, 1 way. Deriving/measuring Xmax comes from two values, mechanical and magnetic. You take the smaller of the two as the Xmax (as the smaller is the limiting linear factor of the sub). Most subs have more linear mechanical throw than motor/coil linearity. So usually the coil...

    12" Fi Q Questions

    Q. Quite a bit more linear of a driver. What size or quantity of drivers in 7 cuft?

    question about FI BL

Steve? Dont have a Steve here, but I have been called worse We made some tweaks to the 8X4 spider and were happy with the results for the BL application. Dont see us using it for anything other than that in the current Fi lineup. Using it on one other OEM prosound application and it does an...

    12" Fi Q Questions

Welll, Qs and BLs are popping up a little more in power handling as well with some slight changes to things internally. We have been tweaking things for all of the drivers and making gains in thermal capacity. Just havent made them all known on the site. SSD now has a solid pole and ability...

    Is neo really worth it?

Thing is... we are moving more of the N2s than we did the older versions. There are distinct advantages to them that people seem to like (weight and cooling for this design) vs the older drivers. We do get the odd request for the single magnet and older 3 stack versions, but normally that is...

What would cause magnets to slip?

Poor glue mixing seems to be a major cause in Chinese assembled motors. I have seen tape put over the back side of the basket mounting holes on the top plate to keep the glue from rising in the threads... only to create a stand off allowing only a little glue to bond the two surfaces together...

    Is neo really worth it?

Trust me... its rough. We keep eating the exponentially growing cost of neo on our best selling line of sub. Makes us think smarter in terms of manufacturing efficiency in desperate attempts to keep pricing where it is. But it is a loosing battle. With the govt stepping in to control the...

btl n2 and btl single saucer magnet same soft parts?

Same parts, just assembled a little different. If this is the customer I am thinking of, either Nick or myself got things squared away for your kits. N2 kits should be up on the site in the morning.

    4 12's or 2 18's????

With same "total" power the 18s should be louder, albeit in a larger box than the 4 12s. If the 12s are of similar series to the 18s, then they should be able to handle twice as much system power in a smaller box, and level the playing field a little more.

    re audio mx

Not an SPL sub. Id do 2.2 cuft tuned to 35 Hz. While not the lowest of low, still not a buzz box either. 25-30 sqin of port.

    2000 watt 8"

1394 dB is unsafe. Please wear ear plugs. I suggest using only 7 of them... its much safer and a not an even number (even numbers arent as loud). lurk>

    CES Fi Style!

BTL version will definitely work in less than 10cuft. BL... well that remains to be seen how well it will, although it "will". As far as time frame goes. We hope to get a final sample (after a couple of small changes) before Chinese New Year starts. If not itll be another 2 week wait. Once...

    CES Fi Style!

Fi wont be using that basket series at all. Keeping that for AA to help differentiate things further. One other OEM client will get it as well... and thats it. Trying to keep things exclusive and enforce things further. Bball09124... Either an EE or ME degree is usually the basis for speaker...

    CES Fi Style!

Bose301s... Ill keep my mouth shut on that one Im trying to dedicate as much time this year to tweeters as possible. I know relatively little about them vs subs and mids. The laser will help with that big time. Tons of iterations with tiny changes on a common platform first... then...
