best sub for 250 bucks TOPS

Not if you can get the 15 to respond like a 10, which I don't think has been seen yet. A 15 has more surface area to push back and forth, it pushes more air, and usually results in a loud kinda boomy sound, not the tight, accurate bass you want in a SQ setup. If you like the sound of a 15 and...

best sub for 250 bucks TOPS

mixmatching bandpass and sealed, not a good idea. What will most likely happen is that at the different frequencies, the subs are going to put out different sound waves, and with a bandpass and sealed box, with different subs in each, you may get cancellation, distorted sounding, or it may just...

Alpine Type X vs. ID CXS vs. others

The local stereo shop around here has the 177A's in stock and on the sound board. With more power, they sound even better...

    alpine x's or re sx's

I have 1 Type-X 12 and I love the sq. Spl isn't bad either, 136.9 in a 1" MDF sealed enclosure, and that's in the huge cab of my Dodge Durango, with no sound deadener. I'm running the Alpine MRD-M1000 aplifier, around 1000 RMS (at 14.1 volts, 14.4 volts birth sheet said 1108 rms)

    Type-x

I run the Alpine MRD-M1000 to my 12" type-x sub. I am running it in a sealed 1" MDF box in a Dodge Durango. It sounds incredible, and has hit 136.9 db.
