    i didn't say JL was the best sub... i was referring to shallow mount subs. in my experience they sound the best of the other shallows. i don't have any JL's but i would gladly take some W7's....

    agreed. craigslist is you best bet. not sure if you can get used wiring, but you could try e-bay for it. wiring is a bit expensive, but on a 150 budget you wont have to worry about running too many watts. you could use 8 gauge wire for your batt-amp and ground. 12-16 gauge speaker wire. RCA...

    i would suggest for most systems the following: 4 gauge wire from batt-amp...same to ground(only 2 feet) 12-16 gauge speaker wire(better safe than sorry) 16' RCA cable you should be good to go

    with these types of problems i would recommend going to a car/audio specialist near you. There are too many variables to discuss online. I got my stereo re-wired and replace for around $50 at a top dollar audio specialist near me. could be worth your time and money.

    in my experience sealed boxes produce dammpened down sound and my ported boxes produce smoother/louder bass. i had two kicker cvr 10" in a custom ported box... hounded. then went to a traditional under the seat front-fire enclosure it wasn't as good.

    also with hollow mount subs you are giving up power for space. if you want more power you need more space. i have a 95 chevy. i wanted more power so i took out the back seat and got some 12" L7's
