yeah right as I read your post I had just figured that out, that part I can understand, series/parallel and ohms, but I can't figure out how the wattage works...
since I'm at 1150W RMS, what kinda sub RMS watts should I have or how can I figure it out?
I don't have the subs because I don't want to end up getting ohms/voice coils that end up not working well with the amp, so I figured I'd ask the question :P
So I'm confused on how you go about setting this up and the numbres involved, I tried some googling and searching but couldn't quite figure it out.
So my amp is
1150W RMS @ 2ohms...
If I wanted to run two subs a piece would it be splitting the power in half over the subs so easy sub would get...
Lol I probably would have laughed, but I realized you didn't read a single post in the thred besides the original.
I'm going to try the oscope method and see what I get...thanks for the help, from everyone who actually read and helped
I can get access to an oscope and I'm pretty good with using them, just what am I going to be connecting the channels to...I looked at the gain setting tutorial and it's not really a tutorial, it's pages and pages of people answering questions about gain, but not really a tutorial on how to...
Lol. I may be stupid with the shit but, when I have the music playing, and I turn it to the right and the bass gets louder, the gain is going up, when I turn it left, and the bass goes down, the gain is going down, and it's ALL the way left.
Well...there's only two things I can change on my amp.
Frequency + Gain
Frequency can be set between 70Hz and 250Hz, I have it at 70Hz, and Gain, 0-100%, and it's at maybe like 0 or 2%
alright, thank you guys for all the help, i'm slowly learning it...
now for what I should do to fix my problem...since apparantly I guess where I like to listen to my music is my amp pushing full power, I guess I need to get a new sub? if I were to get a new sub, what kinda wattage should I...
alright...thanks..just these questions again, i'm curious about
1) Is it okay to overpower a sub? Everyone had always told me it was a great idea to overpower subs and that 1150w would never hurt a 1000w sub.
2) If my amp is only 1150w RMS isn't that going to be the most power it puts out...
i'll go take a picture one - give me a couple of minutes
If I play heavy bass songs - it will start to smell/smoke in 5-10 minutes, if I play moderate to low bass songs it takes 20-30 minutes to smell/smoke, but yes mostly heavy bass tracks.
Also I'm not the best with the technical...
