alright so having yet another problem. Not sure what you mean by voice coil. I am trying to connect amp directly to just one 10 inch sub, no coils in between. I am pretty sure the sub is rated at 4 ohms (don't have the specs - picked it up from a friend). I do have a multimeter so I can check resistence, but not sure where to...

it is a regular 30 amp fuse. and the sub model is a punch hx2 if that helps dont know the specific details.
