How would one obtain a "clean" signal? What do these terms, "clip" or "clipped" or "clipping" mean? I would think distortion is some sort of resistance, like, the cables aren't getting the proper voltage drop or something...or loose connections, bad wires/cables, etc... I have yet to do some...

My amp's a GM-X862, but I'll check it out see if I can find my amp. Thanks a lot. I'm sure three subs died because of too much gain output, and a lot of distortion. Question for everyone: Is distortion a result from unwanted resistance in the wires? Or Loose connections? Is there a music...

Thanks guys. Is there a way to check the RMS power output of an amplifier with a digital multi-meter (DMM) besides finding the specs online? It's not printed on the amp itself.

I have a pioneer GM-X862 amplifier, and I was wondering which 10" subwoofers are suitable for this because I've already blown up three subs. I guess it's the distortion that blew up the last subwoofer, but how would I eliminate that? And is there a sample I can play in the stereo to test out...
