I'll do the toggle switch method. last question, do I just want to put a toggle on the wire and leave everythign alone? just cut the wire and half and put the switch or do I want to wire it so when I flip the switch it grounds the circuit or just flip the switch andit causes and open circuit?

Sorry but I'm still bot understanding how this hooks up. even if you hook it up at the harness aren't you using the speaker wires? wouldn't that stop the sound from getting to one speaker? and are you saying you use a wire right from the harnes to run as a remote wire to the amp?

wouldn't that almost defeat the point then if you need to set your gain lower?

well the other part of my question is can you set the gain on the amp as high as you want with out cliping because of the higher voltage, or do you still have to match the head unit's output voltage?
