    subs cut out when brakes are applied

    i have a 200amp alternator and and optima red top battery.. so the idle voltage is like 14.5v.. i dont think its a voltage problem beacuse sometimes even at a medium volume they cut out but only when the brakes are applied.

    everything is solid.. the only thing is the grounds.. i couldnt find a good place to drill for grounds because i have an 88' camaro and the only place to mount the amps is on a metal hump a few inches above the gas tank. so the grounds are both sort of long. would it be bad to run the grounds...

    my system works fine while driving, bumps like crazy and sounds good. but when i am slowing down and applying the brakes the subs cut out. no completely it just sounds very distorted or inverted in some way. what could cause this?
