    Is my subwoofer/amp dying?

I have a basslink connected to an Alpine 9887. All of a sudden, sub volume is TOO LOW no matter what I set it to. I put in a test CD with a 40Hz tone, crank it up and it WAKES UP. Works fine for a day or so and then dies again. It keeps doing this all the time. Sort of needs a kick to push it...

    Looking to buy gaming computer

The $500 Gaming Machine: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/09/10/the_500_gaming_machine_2007_edition/ Might be a bit outdated but you get the idea. Replace anything you want with what's slightly faster and now costs the same. Problem solved!

9887 just arrived and I have some questions

You need to appreciate clean sound to like what imprint does. It will pick a good LFE crossover point for your sub and will adjust time alignment in a way you will be able to hear your music FULL. You won't hear a SUB anymore and you won't be able to localize it. In fact people might comment...

    Alpine 9887 vs Eclpise cd7100

I'm really curious to know how will imprint work in active mode. The imprint manual doesn't say anything and the screenshots all show the F/R/Sub mode.

Question about the 9887 after you've set it up using imprint

You'll still have bass/treble and sub-level to control. I keep my sub-level at around 10-11 out of 15 for it to blend well for my taste. And I don't like too much bass. You can still change the sub gain if you want more, especially that you need to set it to 1/2 or less for the measurement to...

    Alpine 9887 vs Eclpise cd7100

But wait I have mine set at F/R/Sub and not 3-way active (3-way front stage, rearfill and a sub + imprint, no way to go active on the front stage). I would guess the software will work differently if you're using it in 3-way mode. But in the end even if you use imprint you're still very much...

    Alpine 9887 vs Eclpise cd7100

Yeah that's true. It does mention in the manual (or somewhere I read) that imprint will somehow choose safe crossover points so it doesn't kill the speakers but I have no idea how that's possible. You can still use an active crossover after the headunit and before the amp before doing the...

    Alpine 9887 vs Eclpise cd7100

Well when multeq is enabled the A.SEL button doesn't work so you can't set your crossovers. I just tried. Multeq needs to set crossover points too.

    Alpine 9887 vs Eclpise cd7100

You can't use imprint AND set your own crossover points and EQ. It has to be either. Press the multeq button and switch it ON. If it sounds bad then the measuring wasn't good. I did mine in quieter environment and it made a big difference. Also if you measure for front or driver only it will...

    3sixty.2

I'm not pushing you away from the 3sixty.2. It's a great all-in-one dsp and I don't think you will regret getting it. Was just trying to justify the $500-$600 price tag. If you can find a good deal by all means go for it. All I can think of other than that is audiocontrol.

    3sixty.2

the 3sixty is made to integrate into factory audio systems. if you dont want the frequency curve flattening process like if you have an aftermarket headunit or one that doesn't have any preset equalization you might be better off looking at another processor (coz you will be paying more for...

Alpine and imprint new for late 07.

Well PXA should be a processor. It probably needs to be connected all the time. My guess is they took some part out of the 9887 and made it external? Which also means the PXA can cost more than the KTX?

    Imprint.. again

Some tracks are recorded to have too much bass or treble more than you like. Having an easy way to adjust it while driving is very useful. I have a 3sixty.2 with enough bands per channel to tweak but I sure don't want to mess with it while I'm driving. And honestly I still can't find something...

    Imprint.. again

So I managed to get all 6 positions in the car measured. This is the result screen: - It flattens the mid-high sections while fixing dips and peaks in the sub 200hz part. - The subwoofer blends really well and cannot be localized. I can't really figure out the crossover point by ear...
