Does having th 4 volt preout mean that I don't have to wire the amp to my battery? Thank you.

I'm planning on buying my first system in a couple of weeks, but don't know too much about how the whole thing works. What I'm going to get is this: Alpine CDA-7897 head unit JL Audio 500/1 or Rockford Fosgate 601S sub amp 2 Jl Audio 12W3v2-D2 subs I'm leaving the stock speakers in for now...
