The speaker opening in the door panel is recessed in about 3 1/2" (on top) to where the speaker mounts to the door frame.

I am trying to install a 6" round speaker into a 6x8 opening. I already made the MDF adapter plates, but the speaker barely won't fit into the door panel opening by about a 1/16". Would it hurt anything to carefully grind about 1/32" from both top and bottom of the speaker basket to make it fit...

I went there after reading the reviews and was kind of disappointed with there selection and the fact that they don't rewire speakers (just use factory wiring). They were knowledgeable and pricing seemed fair except for install. They won't be getting my business.

If you really take a good look at ebay sellers, sure you will see that they might have a great BIN price, but they also have astronomical shipping prices to go with it. Add the two together and you will find that you actually paid more for the product than you can get from the online etailers...
