    Thanks, I think I will give the midrange a shot. I am guessing that is somethin mechanically wrong. I hope to save the surround and spider to reglue and either polish some scratched metal or voicecoil. I think the tweeter is out of luck. Have you everdone this? Dave

    it is not an alternator hum or anything, though the car did have alternator hum for a few months or so. it is like a rattle noise, like a cheap plastic radio makes if you turned it up to loud. The speaker use to work fine and the amp is also a kenwood 728. Could the amp have gone bad on that...

    I have a broken mid range and tweeter. Fanaticq 100w rms. The one side is blown while the other is alright. The speakers were hooked up to the crossover right but the crossover was hooked up in reverse. Could that blow them? Isn't that what the reverse polarity swittch does for the tweeter...
