OK, so I'll drop the components for the rear deck and move to a two channel amp. Do I still need this audio control box? Sorry for the newb-like question but when I had a nice system before they were just learning how to move electrons around.

My car has a factory 8" sub in the rear deck. My trunk space is valuable and I can't afford to give it up. I was going to start here and use the factory sub powered by head unit as a start. If it doesn't cut it I would then remove it and add a sub.
