it's a Hifonics Brutus BXi1606D, 1600 watt amp. i'm putting it in a 2004 VW Golf. the 6 gauge wire i picked up at walmart so now i'm guessing it's total crap. so return and spend some more cash?

this will be my first amp install and i had a question about the power wire. i went out and bought 6 gauge wire thinking that would be plenty thick because a friend told me 8 gauge is a universal (says he does it all the time on installs at his shop). when i got my amp i read through the booklet...
