Pontiac G8 Center Channel Speaker Question

I took an old Pioneer TS-1675 3 way speaker and made a "Y" harness speaker wire and connected both front R and L speakers leads into the one set of terminals on the test speaker. The sound was much louder and actually drowned out the two front speakers in the doors. I then wired in a 10 watt...

Pontiac G8 Center Channel Speaker Question

Yes, I have an Alpine 4x35w amp connected to an MTX re-Q5 processor. The re-Q5 is spliced into the 4 channel speaker wiring directly after it leaves the radio and the Alpine reconnects at that point and uses the stock speaker wiring for the all the door speakers. The branch for the center...

My G8 has a base radio, the center channel speaker is fed with both a front right and front left channel wiring. I would like to replace it with a Kicker R3 speaker which only has one set of + and - terminals. Can I combine both + and - speaker leads then attach them to the Kicker R3? Thanks...

    Amp/Sub question

Okay, so really you don't need to measure any value from the RCA's for this proceedure. Any recommendation on which test tone to use?

    Amp/Sub question

A couple of questions... 1. Below is a list of Test Tones I found on the internet none of which are (-5db 60hz test tone) as described by the author. Which one should I use for my test? 2. How does this mathimatical equation enter the process... Multiply the maximum watts you want going to...

    Amp/Sub question

Thank you. I have spent an hour reading this material and have a lot of work to do. With all the settings on the MTX re-Q5 feeding both amps I will have to figure out all the proper settings before I start adjusting the gains with my Digital Multi Meter. I spent time and wrote down all the...

    Amp/Sub question

Djltoronto, Please help me understand. In my own system I have two amps. An Alpine 3553 (4 x 35 watt) which powers 2 sets of Polk db651s door speakers and a PPI PC275 (2 x 75 watt) that powers a subwoofer with dual voice coil (Bazooka 6.5" sub part number BT6024DVC) the RCA's come directly...

    Amp/Sub question

Thanks for the information. Don't mean to scare anyone. I know you would need to turn up the gains on an amp 1/2 the size to acheive the same sound output of a larger sized amp. This completely answers my question.

    Amp/Sub question

Is there a bigger draw on the electrical system of a car when you use a 500w amp to power 2 - 12" subs with the gains turned up to handle the load vs. using a larger sized amp and keep the gains turned down. Thanks for the help.

    Meter Amp outputs

Thanks miker. I am reading .14Vdc on all the amp speaker outputs with the meter set on 20VDC. I narrowed the problem down to what must be my LF speaker wire from the radio to the MTX re-Q5. I waited 2 weeks to have the re-Q5 replaced thinking that was the problem, plugged in a new one and the...

    Meter Amp outputs

What setting on my meter should I use to check the speaker terminals on my amp for the correct output? I'm having an issue with my front left channel on a 4 channel amp.

How does Bass Boost compare to Bass Level?

Forget the bass boost, if you are looking for crisp tight bass in your sound system adjust the gain and leave the bass boost at 0. The bass boost on most amps creates a muffled boomyness sound with little sound definition.
