Yep, the blue light stays on. It's a thin blue bar about 4 inches long located on top of the amp. I guess it's for cosmetics.

It works! Thanks so much. It was grounding itself out because I bolted it to the floor board; I didn't know we weren't suppose to do that & turned up the level control, which I believe is equivalent to the gain and it works great now. Thanks also for the link on how to adust amp. MDF...
