    Old School Sub Tube

I always wondered what the port was tuned to. It hits some low notes for 8's. I listen to mostly rock/metal/classic rock

    Old School Sub Tube

Check it out.... I bought this tube in 1987 when I was 17 years old. It's had some damage to the finish but the integrity is still intact. Loaded with 8" kickers, the subs face away from each other...one in each end and a port in the middle. Each sub has about 1.75 cubes of airspace by my...

Looks like my solder repair worked. No static yet!

    Static from amp channel

Not the gains....I've ruled them out. Also I think the static you are speaking of is different than the static I am getting.

    Static from amp channel

So I pulled the amp today and took it apart. An inspection of the board showed both a bad solder at the input jack and the positive speaker lead for the right rear channel. I hit the spots with some fresh solder and put it back together....so far so good. Everything works, but since the static...

    Static from amp channel

I've done all the troubleshooting....moving the RCA's around does not change anything. I will try the gain pot and see what happens. Please clarify about RCA grounds...but like I said, I've already troubleshot the problem and isolated it to the right rear channel of the amp.

    Static from amp channel

My PPI 4200AM started giving me static out of the right rear channel the other day. It is completely independent of any music or settings coming form the head unit. It remains at a constant volume, and sounds like static that comes from radio stations. At least if I turn the volume up the...

    Using Sonotube for Sub Building

My sonotube is the only one I've seen like it. A car stereo shop built it back in the late 80's. Mine has a speaker in each end of the tube and a square port in the middle. There is no internal divider, both speakers share the tube. Sounds killer.

Subs barely moving everything is connected right.

If it's not the cables from the head unit that are bad, then it's something with the head unit. check the subwoofer output to make sure it is on and turned up check the crossover point and db level

2 ohm or 4 ohm bridged?

I've got a HiFonics ODIN VII.... I'm running it 4 ohms bridged mono and getting 240 watts out of it. It's running 2 kicker 8" subs and sounds awesome. My question....would there be any advantage to running each channel at 2ohms? The amp would still put 120 watts into each speaker, but would it...
