I have the CA manual in front of me. I can get the AP specs from Crutchfield. The THD and S/N ratio are better rated on the newer AP series amp. As already mentioned, they are the same rated power. I have the damping factor for the CA400 listed at 350. Can't find a damping factor spec for the...

are refurbished amps a bad idea?

I can't believe there isn't more love for the refurbs. I have a refurb home theater receiver. Half new retail, and it's been flawless running 4ohm loads across the front stage (half the usual home audio load) for >3 years, now. It had a 1yr mfg warranty, however. I also have 4 refurb...

    Amp for 10" MB Quart

I would think a pair of CA600 amps would be about right. Maybe a bit more than you need for the comps at least, but I would do it: http://www.profilecaraudio.com/amplifiers.htm They would be under your budget, combined. I have a CA800 (powering a sealed MB Quart RWE-352, BTW) and a pair of...

    What amp to get??

Well, with a 4-ch amp and a pair of dual 2ohm voice coil subs, you have a couple options for an optimum setup. The first would be to hook up each of the 4 channels of the amp directly to a voice coil on your pair of dual voice coil subs. That way, each channel is seeing a 2ohm load. This means...

    Small amp

I like them a lot. I ran them full-range into my Dynaudio home audio bookshelf speakers off a car battery in my bedroom system when I first got them. I was very pleasantly surprised by the fact that they sounded really good under those circumstances. In the car they have worked like champs, and...

    Small amp

The CA200 at this link for $39 is smaller than that. 7.5" X 9.75", IIRC: http://www.profilecaraudio.com/amplifiers.htm It is a 65w RMS X 2 or 190w RMS X 1, both at 4ohms. Not sure if that is enough power for you, however. The price is sure right, though. I have two of them, ATM.

mb quart rwe 15s? anyone heard them?

It is hard to say unless we both have a common reference, but I can say that it is an excellent sounding driver. I would say it is rather a "tighter" sound than the SVSound 20-39 CS-Plus HT sub I have. It seems to me, buy ear, that it can equal the output of my HT sub when driven by the same amp...

Help Me Pick a Budget Mono <$150

There is another Profile option, and it is $49. Also, unlike that eBay Cerwin Vega, the shipping is not going to be $30. http://www.profilecaraudio.com/amplifiers.htm They have one California series mono, the 400MSX (200w RMS @ 4ohm, 300w RMS @ 2ohm). I have been running a 400SX that I got...

mb quart rwe 15s? anyone heard them?

I have one in a 1.7 cuft (gross) sealed enclosure in my Mustang. Unfortunately, I am not big into car audio and this is the first sub I have had in a car of mine. I do love the thing though, plus so far I have only had 300w RMS for it. I now have 600w RMS amp, but I haven't installed it yet...

    What amp to get??

Well, when a manufacturer provides a "Peak" or "Max" wattage rating, those are BS numbers. You need to see something tagged with "RMS" or "CEA Rated Power", then those are the more realistic numbers. Plus, your 100w/10amps rule of thumb only works on A/B class amps, not really on the >80%...

    Profile AP600 Vs Ca600

    The CA600, by 50%. The CA600 is rated at 450w RMS X 1 in 4ohm bridged operation. (For stereo, that's 225 RMS X 2 at 2ohm, or 150w RMS X 2 at 4ohm The AP600 is rated at 300w RMS X 1 in 4ohm bridged operation. (For stereo, that's 150 RMS X 2 at 2ohm, or 100w RMS X 2 at 4ohm I own a pair of...

    What amp to get??

Well, if you have a pair of dual 2ohm VC subs, you could only get 150w into each sub, because you would be wiring both voicecoils per sub together in series in order to not drop below 2ohm per channel. A 4-ch amp would be better. Or a pair of 7202's, but that would likely be a bit much, if you...

    What amp to get??

You have the 1002D then, huh? Dual 2ohm VC per sub, no? Hmm... I would think a single CL640 might be enough. It is rated at 225w RMS X 2 when each pair of its 4 channels are bridged into a 4ohm load. And it is $77 +s/h, including a 1 year warranty, as a factory direct refurb...

    Amp fryed

Well, an existing wiring issue will kill the next amp, too. Very possible it was an internal fault, however. As far as what to get besides a Sony Xplode, there are so many WAY better options. If you are stuck on a budget (or just have the stones to stick to one ), try a Profile...

    Hmm... this is interesting

Well, now I have installed two head units. Just put one of the same Clarion DXZ475MP units into a friend's Saturn. He got his for $72. It was a 10 minute install for me, and it was more involved than my Mustang. Sweet. OK, I'm now a pro... ...someone pay me. Anyway, still no cooperation...
