left/right should still be retained because there is no signal summing going on. If you bridged the two lefts the output will still be left etc. it has no way of getting the right signal

i don't see why it wouldn't work, assuming the subs are @ 4ohms, for 2 dvc subs they could be wired at 4ohms, and for two svc subs they can be wired at 2ohms... what am I missing?

well with tweeters in the sails, a midbass in the stock location would probably sound just fine, i think the poles will affect it less then you think

is the whine coming from the speakers? if so it kinda sounds like you have alt whine and there is a sticky post that could help you with that
