Thank you this is all really helpful. If I turn the stereo off for about 5 mins it comes back on but it fades out again pretty quickly the same thing happens if I turn the car off completely.

It's a factory unit the only change I've made to it was adding a part to allow me to connect my iPod via jack cable. Because it's a factory unit does that mean I'm limited to fix it?
