Did some extensive googling and found out my problem. I had the remote turn on wire going to the amp actually connected to the antennae wire which is not turned on when the HU goes into modes other than radio!

Good question I honestly havn't done much research myself on them yet, but I'm planning on redoing mine in my 89 Olds and any resourses would be cool. I do hear they are relatively expensive for just being a seemingly "peice of fabric."
