I've tinted side markers and turn signals with a rattle can style tint spray. I did it lightly and the amber color was still very visible when the light bulb came on. Good luck.

Same dimensions and just eliminate the port? That would give roughly 3ft^3 per woofer. But I've heard when two woofers share airspace they each see about 2/3 of the total volume, effectively giving them 4ft^3 each. Still open to ideas for bracing.
