Current events discussion

I just wish the left could embrace the world like Trump and all his supporters. Maybe then, one day, we can solve world hunger. <--- please read slowly and emotionally in a British accent.
At least he's thinking about trying things differently and I'm all for that...the "tried and true" government model is a friggin' joke but government sycophants (cheering for their team while being clueless both teams are trash) keep cheering on the status quo...

The "change" is what we need, what America needs. We can't keep doing the same old "make Democrats rich" scheme every presidency. We need Trump because that is not his goal. We need outside of the box thinkers because that is not what Democrats are. We NEED this change. We need to Make America Great Again! 🇺🇸

Ummm Rob, didn't you say you don't watch the news? Please, we prefer honesty on this site.
Uhmmmm, I don't. Google "Trump Panama Canal". You can see how many times it has been said on the news, WITHOUT WATCHING THE NEWS. The internet is a fascinating thing to explore and learn through.

Pretty amazing that I can see the media that said it, without ever watching a newscast.
Wanna see something REALLY crazy? I can share a page from a 1993 Car Audio, but I don't even have the printed magazine!

I have not been keeping up with anything. I saw that something Trump related triggered you so I figured "PARTY TIME!!!"
And you immediately assumed my derision was misplaced, because how could Trump possibly have said anything outlandishly stupid?
Jumping to his defense so quickly can backfire, eh?

No, I KNOW you are a male Karen and the mention of Trump sends you in to a fit. Who else responds with a post like the one you just posted.

So we dismantle it to what benefit? It's known, it works, and it's considered the gold standard.
Kill the "brand" and absorb it into the treasury, and every Trump follower will cheer?
And?

40% of OUR containers go through the canal. A canal that is owned by Panama, and that we co-controlled after we finished the project started by the French.
Carter didn't "give it away" as Panama was never a territory of the US, even if the plan was to mimic what happened with Puerto Rico. We made an investment. I'll guarantee the ROI over the 85 ensuing years was quite good, and then we ceded control back to Panama, while we still benefit from an $11.6 Billion trade surplus.
And when we had a chance to be the operating authority, we got outbid on the contract.

Like I said, we could just stop using the canal, find alternate routes for all the containers, and give up any additional benefits we get from the relationship with Panama.
Who cares about trade surplus?
Or, we play Communists and take over the canal again by force.

BTW - Good pricing on Diet Coke this month. No limit. With my one can a week, a couple of twelves will hold me for a while.

Panama Canel is a good deal for us and extraordinarily ******** awesome deal for everybody else. Why are we subsidizing world trade for the rest of the globe?

In my neck of the woods they never have deals on the 24 packs, only the 12 packs. Unfortunately, I/my family doesn't have the discipline to limit ourselves to a soda a week, so when they do BOGO on the 12 packs, those are gone in a week or 2. Generally, we just buy soda anymore.

Listen Rob, I know you are all about the argument however in modern times watching the news doesn't mean just watching it on a television. <--- That's the long word for TV. 😁

You can literally watch the news by searching for it on Google and viewing it on a computer (Watching the news)
You can use your phone to watch videos of the news (Watching the news)
Newspapers...

With that said, if you are not watching the broadcast then what are you doing? Are you literally reading the headlines (designed to capture attention and interest) and forming your opinions or are you WATCHING THE NEWS?

I'm not a fan of being called a liar or even having it inferred. I tend to respond to such accusations negatively and will prove them wrong. Every time.

'Funny that it bothers you when I defend myself the accusation, but you have no problem making that same baseless accusation over and over again.
You must have a real special entitlement, huh?

Cool. I was watching the dictionary the other night. After that I watched 110 pages of a Vince Flynn novel, then I watched the Best Buy website to see if they had any good deals going. I didn't watch the Wall Street Journal, though. No subscription.

No, I don't watch the talking heads on my TV, my computer, my phone, my tablet, or any other possible device. I'm not sure how many times I need to repeat that.
Generally, a web result will be like a headline, or may include an actual headline from an article. I may skim the articles about it from various sources to see if they are all the same. Then I might evaluate.

I might form an opinion of the subject matter or who it is about, but I don't form an opinion about the facts.
I already have an opinion that Trump is a shitstain on humanity, but the existence of the things he says is factual.
My opinion doesn't alter their existence at all, for better or worse.

You are such a liar. You can't make a claim like that. There is no way on earth you can prove them wrong. That would make you right 100% of the time and I promise you, you are not infallible.

Prove that anything you say "bothers" me.

So triggered. You are not only a liar but you are a baby as well.
