It's why the radiation towers around us are called Cell towers 💉🐍

Do you ever listen to yourself talk? I mean listen to how deranged you sound sometimes? You used the term take it back first. I used your term and even said "as you said"... so calm the **** down. How would we acquire the Panama Canal? Do you really think Trump is a crazy dictator looking to take over the world or perhaps he and others are looking at ways to better the United States deals that we have been getting the shaft on. Turn off CNN and MSNBC and for ***** sake start thinking for yourself. You sound like a butthurt conspiracy theorist the way you talk.
"Did you just see that Trump had an idea, read some talking points from Rachel the man Maddow and started complaining or have you opened your mind up, looked at the idea from all perspectives, and still came to the conclusion that "Orange man bad"?"

Or the obverse in which you heard that Trump had an idea, and assumed without any critical thought that it must be good because Trump vomited the idea publicly.

And no, I'm FAR from the "first" to use the phrase "take it back". The media started using that as soon as Trump said he would "demand that the Panama Canal be returned". A ridiculous notion, since we didn't own it originally, and only SHARED control of it after we finished an already-started construction project.
And demanding a return of something is analogous to taking it back.

But people like you hear him say something utterly ridiculous, and immediately cheer as if it's the best idea since sliced bread. Are you excited for when they can add a new star to our flag to represent our 51st state of Canada?
With all your bitching about the US debt, did you suddenly cheer when Trump announced his desire to abolish the debt ceiling?

Instead of turning off media, you should attempt some due diligence when you hear Trump speak. You may be shocked at all the stupid shit he says, that you previously just accepted as correct and a good idea simply because he said it.

Actually Trump suggested the FDIC could be eliminated and become a function of the Treasury department. So if there was a bank collapse the difference is what department would cut the insurance checks. Furthermore, since the Treasury props up/bails out the banks, I think it makes great sense for them to be the insurer as they are already playing the part of insuring the banks.
So we dismantle it to what benefit? It's known, it works, and it's considered the gold standard.
Kill the "brand" and absorb it into the treasury, and every Trump follower will cheer?
And?

If the US shipping is 40% of Panama Canal traffic, then we built and defend a canal that benefits the rest of the world more than US and you seem to think that's a good deal. Wow. I guess that must be the same attitude Carter had when he negotiated the shyt deal to give away the Panama Canal.
40% of OUR containers go through the canal. A canal that is owned by Panama, and that we co-controlled after we finished the project started by the French.
Carter didn't "give it away" as Panama was never a territory of the US, even if the plan was to mimic what happened with Puerto Rico. We made an investment. I'll guarantee the ROI over the 85 ensuing years was quite good, and then we ceded control back to Panama, while we still benefit from an $11.6 Billion trade surplus.
And when we had a chance to be the operating authority, we got outbid on the contract.

Like I said, we could just stop using the canal, find alternate routes for all the containers, and give up any additional benefits we get from the relationship with Panama.
Who cares about trade surplus?
Or, we play Communists and take over the canal again by force.

BTW - Good pricing on Diet Coke this month. No limit. With my one can a week, a couple of twelves will hold me for a while.

Ummm Rob, didn't you say you don't watch the news? Please, we prefer honesty on this site.

I have not been keeping up with anything. I saw that something Trump related triggered you so I figured "PARTY TIME!!!"
