Step DID say something false and inaccurate.
Are you confused about how words work?

Do you remember that OJ guy? He was acquitted of murder but found liable for the deaths.
If a news reporter later said he was found liable for murder, they could be hung out to dry. He was found liable for the DEATH, not for murder.
Again, think about how they always protect themselves by saying "alleged". It's not done for fun.

Step said Trump was found liable for ****. In that first jury trial, he was not. So it was false.
Had he said the judge clarified in the second hearing that regarding ****: "Trump did exactly that", there would have been no case no matter how hurt Trump felt by the words.

You cannot sue someone for repeating information in a public legal document. (You CAN, but it will get tossed).
