Why so butthurt??? Why is so difficult to accept what the facts tell us? Have I ever said or implied that you made SHITTY decision just because we disagree about whether we should get vaxxed?I didn't get a star on my belly. I was an essential contractor who went into all sorts of businesses even before we understood this chinese creation. I never got the virus. Am i a superhero? Am i going to die because I didn't get the vaccine? Am i a miracle?
You're trying to justify your SHITTY decision to inject yourself and your family with an experimental substance. Just own your stupid decision and stfu.
This is where their argument has to go because the big picture is pretty clear. Even one assumes that covid was over reported by a factor of 2 and that covid deaths and hospitalizations were also over reported by a factor of two, being vaxxed still has a huge statistical benefit. So now it comes down to you can't prove that Roger didn't catch Covid because he was vaxxed or vice-versa - and since I don't have the shrink ray and vessel from Fantastic Voyage, they are right there is no way for me know. It's just a variation of the conspiracy theory narrative, where they've invented an approach where facts no longer matter. If we want to keep talking micro analysis we can say unvaccinated Trump got it and almost died from it. Vaccinated Biden got it and barely skipped a beat.
Supposedly Trump was the picture of perfect health and Biden was on the verge of complete collapse before either got infected.
That means the vaccine works.
But are we dumb enough to evaluate on a micro scale, or smart enough to look at the big picture?
You actually expected answers to rhetorical questions like "am I superhero?"Incorrect. I brought up my personal experience as a response to a response to my broad statement.
I asked questions. Why did i survive when others did not? Please reread my post that you responded to and let me know what was unclear.
Maybe i contracted it without any symptoms. I ask again: am I a superhero for not feeling any symptoms? How could I not notice a deadly disease? Maybe I spread it to others while performing essential work, but why were others unable to spread it to me?
I don't want to argue with you for the sake of argument, but I am interested in engaging if you have any direct answers to my questions.
It doesn't have to be 100% mortality rate to know that the vaxxed population faired better than the unvaxxed. I don't know how you can say we don't know how the vaccinated would have a faired without the vaccines, there are over 200m vaxxed Americans and a little shy of 100m unvaxxed Americans. If you ask me that's a pretty good sample size for comparison. Additionally, the vaxxed population was more likely to have comorbidities. We will never know because we will never know how the vaccinated would have faired without the vaccines. There is no 100% mortality rate with the god damn virus.
Ahhh, Mr Enlightened one of the universe, who claims he acts as a good person and that is what makes him better than everyone else.We carried your mom around and shared her from one person to another.
But you forget that they ārushed the statisticsā, (statistics that supposedly mean nothing anyway, so I donāt know why ārushingā them would matter). It doesn't have to be 100% mortality rate to know that the vaxxed population faired better than the unvaxxed. Thatās wholly incorrect. If the vaccine āforcesā your immunity and you donāt get COVID, you are many orders of magnitude less likely to give it to someone else.I think common sense would tell us that if the vaccine triggers an immune response and your body produces antibodies, itās doing at least something. The thing that must be acknowledged and clearly is a fact is that the vaccine is only good for a persons own personal benefit (if they are at high risk of course). Not for others benefits but potentially your own and thatās it. In the defense to those who had elderly family and got the vaccine in fear letās remember at the start that is what we were told. It turns out that was bs and is no oneās fault but those in power who then tried to peddle the lie that in the beginning it was true but no longer is. If the argument is that the vaccine can prevent death in those at risk, sweet Iāll agree but no one can try and peddle the bs that it prevents you from getting or spreading the virus cause that simply isnāt true. The cdc director has even said this when she was put under oath and this info is readily available now since 2022 on. Any articles from 2021 are bs and the words used now are āthe science changedā or āit was only good for the 2 first strains (bs of course). Data takes time, itās why when it comes to medicine it takes 10-15 years to do 3 phases of trials. Even then 90% of drugs tested fail.
Itās just a mom joke, Rob. I canāt help it that your mom attends super spread-her events.Ahhh, Mr Enlightened one of the universe, who claims he acts as a good person and that is what makes him better than everyone else.
Or is this the incubus who has taken over your body, causing you to do evil?
Meh, itās just more ptovevygat you sling so much bullshit around her, but likely donāt even believe a word of it yourself.
Ahhh, the good old āI banged your dead momā jokes. Almost as comical as when you tell people they should kill themselves. Great fun.Itās just a mom joke, Rob. I canāt help it that your mom attends super spread-her events.
When did I claim I act as a good person or Iām better than everyone else? We already went over this. Iām selfish; the more people who do better, the better chances are that I do better. Thatās how I see it, at least.
I disagree. You're presenting this as very black and white and it isn't. First off, alot (I assume most) people got vaxxed when Delta was the dominate strain and the vax was pretty effective against Delta and the Original stain(s). You can deny it, but it's right there in the stats and documented around the world. OTOH, the vax and natural immunity were not so effective against Omicron and Omicron isn't nearly as bad/deadly as previous strains; if Omicron was the original strain then the lockdown, warp speed, etc never happens.I think common sense would tell us that if the vaccine triggers an immune response and your body produces antibodies, itās doing at least something. Thatās wholly incorrect. If the vaccine āforcesā your immunity and you donāt get COVID, you are many orders of magnitude less likely to give it to someone else.
If the vaccine forces your immunity and you get COVID but are only marginally sick, you are less likely to retransmit as your viral shedding is lower.
So yes, getting the vax can help you AND others.
This is not politics, itās basic medical science and common sense that has been known for a long time.

Symptomatic COVID patients are more contagious, study finds
Individuals with COVID-19 are most likely to spread the virus to close contacts two days before the onset of symptoms to three days after symptoms appear, and the risk of transmission is highest when patients had mild or moderate disease severity, according to a new study.www.sciencedaily.com

Additionally, again immunity is being presented as some magical brick wall. It doesn't take a genius to know that if I'm less sick (ie less coughing, sneezing, etc), then I'm less likely to infect others. Additionally, if I'm sick for a shorter period time, again I'm less likely to infect others. That's the same type of argument that the anti-maskers tried to run with - since the mask is only partially effective, it's not effective. The goal is/was to slow infection/spread, not completely eliminate it.
I had a conversation with a epidemiologist many moons ago (pre-covid) and she explained the flu and cold like so: everybody gets the flu (vaxxed or not), it's just a matter of how bad you get it. A good immune system (vaxxed or not) wipes out the flu virus before you even know you had it and weaker immune system doesn't react quickly enough to prevent illness and if your immune system is weak enough you end up dead. So at this point ~everybody's had some level of exposure.
