What is?

You're trying to argue an adjusted gas price against the real world impact...it doesn't work...looks nice and pretty seeing a chart with $3 gas...but the real world wasn't that...
Explain how the “real world wasn’t that”.
Do you understand how adjusting prices for inflation works?

How about you fuck off? You know... fuck and off. You are trying to argue some real dumb shit and shit that is 100% irrelevant to the current cost of gas. I don't care what the average national cost of gas is and I certainly don't give two fucks how much it was back in the 1970's. I don't care how much you want to use estimated inflation, CPI's, current or constant, I just don't give a fuck because it's not relevant. Joe Biden was inserted into office and from day ONE gas prices began climbing and climbing. Climbed so high it went over $3 above the National Average that it was when he was inserted into office.

What you are doing yet again you piece of pond scum is downplaying something to make it seem far less significant that it actually is. You think by posting a chart that spreads estimated and adjusted dollar amounts out over many many years is going to change the MASSIVE spike in the actual current cost of gas at the pumps since Biden was given the White House? Really?

Look how much effort you put into your argument just so you can avoid saying "I agree, the NA of over $5 a gallon of gas is big jump from the $2.31 NA when Biden came in". Nope, you can't do that. Instead you have to let out your far left douchebagery and argue irrelevant shit.
That’s a whole lot of typing to say that facts are irrelevant to you when they fully contradict your feelings.

You don’t understand the math, so you simply disregard it. Like a chid, you just cover your eyes to reality and call it “bullshit” or “irrelevant”.
The same guy who is always crying that his words aren’t taken in the proper context. Ironic.

Your willful ignorance is a sad commentary on far too many people in this country. Hide your head like an ostrich, focus on the micro instead of the macro, and fail.
Zero point zero.

How many times are you going to say this same shit and on how many web forums you clown? LOL you are a joke. Tell me how any ANY of your estimated averages from the 1970's until 2021 that you listed are relevant to over a $3 a gallon for gas jump since Biden was put in. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Do you understand what paying actual gas prices at the pump is?
Do you understand what the CPI is?
How about wage changes over time?
How about expenses as a percent of income?

Tell me, are cars more expensive today than 20 years ago?
How about a television?
A pizza?
Answer all three. If you can.

Arguing statistics that don't represent what is actually coming out of people's pockets is dishonest at best...

Because your $3 adjusted price isn't the $4 plus people were actually paying...it looks pretty on your graph though...
Seriously. Why would you make a public display of a lack of math knowledge, even when you are anonymous on a forum?
That’s pretty weird.

Do you think people make the same money they made in 1978?
Do you think other goods cost the same they in 1978?

At this point I can only hope you’re being facetious. If not, you really ARE at a loss for understanding simple math and economics.
A really sad commentary on our education system if so.

This is what I meant by averages being used by lazy people or for nefarious reasons. Rob is proving that right now. Even though we know there was an over $3 a gallon jump in the national average for a gallon of gas, Robs averages over a given length of time will make it look minor or insignificant. It's how politicians try to fool the general public.

I don't care what they paid in '78...you're trying to argue a 10 cent increase by spinning stats...at least be honest about your bullshit...

Nope not facetious at all...you're graph doesn't represent what actually came out of peop, especially pockets...if you wanted to use a useful "average" for your argument...the average percentage of income spent on gas would be more representative...but you didn't because it don't validate your 10 cent bump bullshit...
