And legally in this state he should have also been charged as when you fill out a firearms form you must put down if you are buying it for someone else. Said buyer didn't which got him charged but also should have had Rittenhouse charged for doing a straw purchase as well. I live in WI and buy guns & have to put down all that information when filling out the state and federal forms.
Put it this way...whenever I sell a firearm (and this isn't state law but how I do any sale of anything) I have two papers filled out not only with my name,date of sale, the serial number of said gun, type of gun, any accessories going with it like say ammo I no longer need, the amount of ammo, scopes, mounts and any mod I did to said gun. But also my name, address and buyers address, name and what not. I sign it and they sign it. They refuse I walk away. That way I am legally covered if said seller sells it one day to someone else and that idiot goes out and commits a crime I am then legally covered as I sold it to someone else on that date long before that.
Either way he was found not guilty on the charges they were allowed to pursue. As far as the other guy goes I am not sure what happened to him legally. That entire case went away in the news media around here.
