People who get the flu vaccine still get the flu sometimes. This is nothing new. Do some research man.

The flu vaccines only protect against the designed flu variants not all flu variants...you'd be a pincushion if you got vexed for every flu variant during flu season...and did you just equate covid to the flu...

So how do you know which variant you have? Does anyone actually know what variant they actually have from actual testing?

Some do, some don't. They don't sequence every sample and they don't tell everybody. Healthcare workers often know which variant they caught. OTOH, if I've been vaxxed and I catch Covid in the middle of an Omicron spike, then it's reasonable to assume I probably caught Omicron. Furthermore, symptoms have changed. For example, sore throats and running nose are more common with Omicron, losing smell and taste are more associated with Delta. Omicron is more asymptomatic than Delta, etc, etc, etc.

And that is exactly what is happening with Covid and some people are absolutely out of their minds because they can't understand that. These fukking yahoos think that it should be a one and done shot for infinity against Covid. That is just totally unrealistic.

Looks like covid and the flu will be very similar. We'll never eradicate either of them because they infect the animal population and then jump back to humans. The main thing we need at this point is to keep Covid from infecting so many, which will slow it's mutation into new variants. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening. One thing I do find vexxing is why aren't poorer nations just using old tech to develop Covid vaccines instead of sitting on their hands???

You probably need a ton advanced computer tech to make these vaccines. They all used AI to develop these so quickly; that’s a fact, at least the American ones.

And yet they don't have vaccines for the newest variant but preach getting vexed for every other one...and covid is here to stay in one variant or another...so you can either get a shot every couple months or, like the flu, let whatever happens happens...but anybody that don't want regular jabs for life is either stupid or a superspreader ffs...

No surprise that Oregon is following suit. I know people in the healthcare industry that have gotten their variant info. Again, that's even if it's sequenced, since they're only sequencing a small percentage to extrapolate the bigger picture.

The vaccines are somewhat effective on the newer variants, which reduces case load on the over worked healthcare workers and slows the spread of the virus, which in turn slows the emergence of new variants.

You request the info. If you're sample was sequenced some states require that the information be released upon request others don't. If you're in a "don't" state, then I guess it's up to how charming you are, or who you know, or in the case of healthcare workers it's just doing a solid for somebody else who is fighting the same fight.
