Nope. The “speed of sound” is based on the speed it travels under a very specific set of circumstances.
This is known as a “standard” or “reference”. It can be different under different circumstances, but there is only one “standard”. And it’s not based on a common cruising altitude of a passenger jet.

To simply say “the speed of sound is 660MPH” is wrong, because it doesn’t provide the parameters necessary for the number to mean anything.
It’s like saying “cruising altitude is 35,000 feet”. It is? Of WHAT, and WHERE?

In the box type 100 feet for the altitude and type the speed of 660 miles per hour and hit calculate. You will see you are below the speed of sound at 100 feet which is 761mph.

Now to my claim which is that at the cruising altitude of a commercial jet the speed of sound is 660 miles per hour. Reset the boxes. Type in a cruising altitude of 37,000 feet and the speed in which you are going, 660 mph. Hit calculate. The speed of sound at 37,000 feet is now.... 660mph. Thus proving my claim as fact... unless NASA got it wrong some how.
