I thought I'd throw the question out since I have had too many mixed opinions..even questioning my own thought on what sized wire to use from amp to subs. Most people had said 10 awg will work; most systems I've setup 10awg is what was used; Rockford calculator say too small and a loss will happen. If there is another post like this--sorry search didn't seem to work too well.

Setup will be:

3000w @ .5 ohm

to two

15" subs 1500w(+) each

What wire should I use? will 10 awg cut it..or is the calculator right that I need 6 awg speaker wire (wtf? right?) What is your opinion on wiring for subs? (not just mine - but maybe for someone else who has questioned)

8 awg is, in my opinon, overkill. Anything bigger than that is just ridiculous...
That's what I think too...imo, I dont think if at all there would be an audible difference (OR very little). It would be nice to see if anyone has messed with anything that large to get an opinion. OR could try myself, but still under the assumption there will be very little difference. Again just curious.

For that, 10-12ga would be fine.

You only need huge 8ga if youre running your amp at an extremely low ohm load and producing a TON of current or just want overkill.

overkill yeah maybe but so worth it. i look at it this way my subs have 8awg inputs on them and my amp has 8 awg outputs so why not run 8awg.
